Dr. S. Pratap Reddy
Managing Editor & Founder Chairman Dhruva College of Management
Email: drspratapreddy@gmail.com
Address: Dhruva Tara'k Jn,NH:44,Medchal,Hyderabad-501401,India
Dr Pratap Reddy born 1944, rose from a humble, rural middle-class farming community of Telangana to become a respectable teacher in management at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad. Starting his career there as a lecturer, he progressed on his career as a professor eventually adorning "Board of Management Studies of the University" as its chairman
Born in a rural village of about 1000 population with just one middle school to boast of, studying in Telugu medium and coming from an agriculture background, Pratap faced many challenges as a school going boy both in the village school and high school at Hanumkonda and then coming to Hyderabad with the help of his teacher from the village, he made his mark in a very competitive environment.
Throughout his school education as a meritorious student and as a top ranker he enjoyed fee-waiver. He was eligible for scholarship too, but his father - a socially conscious person did not seek the same saying a poorer students should be helped, though he himself being a man of average means. Pratap imbibed good values shaped by his parents and many of his primary school teachers. Discipline, hard work, honesty and being frank and truthful were the qualities that stood by him throughout his life.
He was brought to Hyderabad by his revered teacher Mr.Sattar for anti-rabies treatment in 1957 and enjoyed the bathing facilities at a mosque, and this was a turning point in life to a Hindu boy feeling quite safe in a Muslim locality in the old city of Hyderabad. He not only did his engineering from Osmania University but was very agitated in the discrimination Telangana was suffering which propelled him into the famous agitations - such as Mulki agitation of 1968 and Separate Telangana agitation of 1969 followed by his incarceration. However, he never promoted hate or discrimination.
After joining the NS Engineering College as a faculty he totally focused on teaching and won many appreciations and proved his leadership qualities too, winning hearts and positions as Secretary of NSEC Teachers' Association, President of JNTU Teachers' Association, and VP of A.P University Teachers' Federation. while at the same time winning hearts of his students for guiding them.
After teaching for 25 years at JNTU, he took voluntary retirement and established in 1995 Dhruva College of Management-"India's first not-for-profit Business School" single handedly, by selling his assets with total faith that a sincere and honest purpose backed by dedication and hard work can never fail. Over the last 23 years, Dhruva has made a formidable presence in the comity of management academia across the country. Acclaimed as the best emerging B-school in Asia by CMO ASIA with Wall Street Journal as media partner, it co-produces management graduates grounded in intellectual humility & ethical profundity. This institution has many awards and recognitions to its credit and housed many leading lights for conferences and lectures. Thus he chose to become 'edupreneur' . There are many management schools but few that match the risk taken and dedication shown by a teacher such as Pratap.
Dhruva has built an invaluable base of intellectual capital in the form of faculty, research, publications and consulting. Its refereed journal- ‘Vidwat-Indian Journal of Management’, now into its 16th edition made a mark among management academia and industry. Dhruva has established "AHIMSA-Axis Hyderabad Indian Management Systems Academy”, a forum to proactively pursue leadership development anchored to ethics and ancient Indian ethos. Realising that today’s MBAs need to develop people skills apart from technical and functional skills to make them "industry ready", Dr. Reddy spearheaded massive effort at Dhruva to sensitise the students' "right hemisphere of the brain” thru "life skills" training. This is showing a ray of hope swaying Dhruvans away from materialistic pursuits-like corruption, high handedness, unethicality, flamboyant and snobbish behaviour. On the contrary, they’re getting imbibed with Indian ethos, culture & wisdom.
Dr. Reddy's avowed philosophy and life goal is to offer quality business education gratis to all the deserving aspirants.

Baseema Banoo Krkoska is the Business Librarian at Albert R. Mann Library, Cornell University. She has a Masters in Business Administration from Osmania University, Hyderabad India and an M.S. in Communication from Cornell University. She is the primary liaison to the Applied Economics & Management (AEM) and Policy Analysis & Management (PAM) departments. In her role as liaison, she is collaborating with several AEM faculty members to incorporate information competency into the applied economics and business curriculum. In addition, she offers library workshops on new investment technologies (Bloomberg) and better preparation for interviews. Baseema shares some tips on how to use the library as a career resource. She provides examples of what the library has to offer to people looking for career information. Baseema first dispels the myth that using library has to be a physical activity, but the library actually opens up a world of electronic resources. In this tough economy, students have to look beyond Google. Students should contact a librarian to use Career Search, a website that can generate a list of contact names and number in a certain business for a specific geographic region in under 5 minutes. Also, the Vault Career Guide, a subscription resource offered by career offices, is available through the Cornell Library. The two resources offer unbiased resources in a fraction of the time one might spend searching Google. Finally, Baseema informs us that the librarians can also help students develop the skills that are needed in business, such as creating a business plan. Students can even get this help directly through the Cornell website by clicking on the “Ask a Librarian” link. In general, the Cornell Libraries can help career search and help develop skills that students need when they start working. Baseema encourages all students to get online and Google their school library for help. Baseema obtained her MBA from O.U and was the Gold Medallist. Before relocating to USA, she worked as a faculty at DHRUVA. She also contributed a column "Bibliography" to Vidwat.
